Overview: governance in the studio
The Govern and operate section is about running the Data Product Studio after your data products are live. Once a data product is deployed to Snowflake, the platform has created real objects, and your work shifts from designing to operating: confirming deployments succeeded, reviewing what happened during a deployment, and managing the platform day to day.
Governance itself is defined earlier. During the Define and Designer stages, you set access controls, validation rules, and lineage against business concepts, before any source data is connected. By the time you reach this section, that governance is already built into the deployed objects. This section is about operating what is now live, not defining it again.
That operating work keeps the golden thread intact: the traceability from a process definition through to a deployed output stays auditable while the platform runs.
What this section covers
- Confirming a deployment succeeded and reviewing earlier deployments. See View deployment history.
- Reading the individual events inside a single deployment when something behaved unexpectedly. See Read the deployment events timeline.
Managing roles and access is also part of operating the platform. That work is covered on its own and is not part of this set of articles.
Note: Operating the platform is a Snowflake admin task. You need an admin role to review deployments and manage access.
